thanks again for all the advice.. had the big meeting and things actually went really well.. i wanted to avoid attacking the society at first and focus on my discouragement and burn out.. quoted the wt from sunday and told him this is exactly how i feel: "i have grown numb and become crushed to an extreme degree; i have roared due to the groaning of my heart.

my own heart has palpitated heavily, my power has left me, and the light of my own eyes also is not with me.

38:8,10.. to my surprise, all he did was quote a few things from the article and a few scriptures and asked if there was anything he could do.. it seemed that he was pleased that i didn't express 'truth' issues but that it is just emotional issues so i figured why mix it up now and bring crap up.. he left asking if i can at least try to hit one sunday meeting a month but he'd still like to see the girls try to go!

Holy crap! I think I dodged a bullet by not jumping the gun and revealing my apostate side.

Good for you. Way to many people get excited and think all is lost when these things start happening. You must realize that local Elders are usually very naive and don't suspect these kinds of things. Being generic can really get them off your back.

What's Your MAIN Reason For Not Believing In "The Truth"?

my mother had this discussion yesterday.

basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??

you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.

Well, there are many reasons but I think it all comes down to one thing for me.

They were never chosen by God in 1919. Their history as a religion shows that there is nothing divine or special about their movement, and that it is simply the outcome that can be expected from any new religious movement. They are just people coming up with some ideas. There is nothing special, supernatural, divine, or different about them that leads me to believe they are the 'one true faith'.

a bethelite's viewpoint on the recent organization changesto me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.

it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

This is exactly how I feel. You have proved my own speculations and ideas about why these changes have come.

One thing that I remember is a few years back a a district convention a C.O. talking about how they needed '40,000 qualified men' to fill positions of Elder and MS in the congregations. I knew something was up when I heard that.

he succeeded in creating a great design, especially for www.freeminds.org .

You need to get a good navigation bar programmed on the top of the site. It should run from the left of the page to the right as wide as the site is and appear directly below the logo. A fly-out menu would be great because it gives you the option to include tons of lines without the page looking cluttered.

don't know if anybody else has caught this yet but there is a very interesting phenomena going on youtube where former jws are posting videos titled "i am sorry that i knocked".

i'm considering doing one and i would encourage any of you out there that can should post one up there too.

from what i have found on youtube six people have done this so far.

my only hope is that people would continue to keep the videos as positive as those who have posted them. That is really why I felt they were worth mentioning. I was really taken back by how the 7 or 8 people who had made these were very humble in their approach.

I've seen one to many ex-jw videos were somebody uses a type font with blood dripping letters that says something like 'JWS are a Cult of death' with music from a horror movie playing in the background. Ok, that might be a little overstated but you get the point.

Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw

i thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.

i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!

she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

I've held off posting on your thread for a while to try to understand. But,I'm having a really hard time understanding why you would want to go back to an org. that has time after time proved, that they can't be trusted with the truth.

Read the last post I made on this thread, I gave my interpretation for what i've seen on this thread (and a few others)

before i got ahold of the info about the jws on the net i had started to read the christion greek scriptures.

now that i know about changes of words in the nwt i want to read a different traslation.

any suggestionis as which one i should go with?

New Jerusalem Bible and the New Revised Standard Version are generally good.

I'll second that

If you can actually find the original Jerusalem Bible I would go with that. I got mine used off of amazon. It has lots of foot notes that take advantage of modern textual criticism.
